Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital (GLH) is a 123-bed acute care community hospital serving approximately 80,000 residents of Mifflin and Juniata counties and members of the contiguous counties of Centre, Perry, Snyder and Huntingdon. Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital is continuously working to provide high-quality cancer care for our community. We are fortunate to have the latest of many advances to fight cancer. GLH Breast Care Center offers a broad range of services including digital mammography, Breast MRI and Nurse Navigation. It is an honor to serve as a beneficiary of Pink Zone.
J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in rural Huntingdon County has been a Pink Zone beneficiary since 2011. As a Pink Zone partner, J.C. Blair has been able to offer the women of Huntingdon County and surrounding communities the best possible breast health education, outreach, screening and diagnostic care, through the latest in digital and 3D mammography, stereotactic biopsies, and the staffing of a breast health coordinator.
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to being a part of the fight against ALL women’s cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. A proud partner of the Pink Zone, Mount Nittany Health provides comprehensive cancer care at the state-of- the-art Lance and Ellen Shaner Cancer Pavilion. The Pink Zone’s generous contributions to Mount Nittany Health have allowed Mount Nittany Medical Center to hire a breast health navigator, a role that works to remove any barriers to care that people may face as they deal with the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. For more information about our breast health navigator as well as other Mount Nittany Health cancer care services, visit mountnittany.org.
The PA Breast Cancer Coalition is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that represents, supports and serves breast cancer survivors and their families in Pennsylvania through educational programs, breast cancer research grants and legislative advocacy. The PBCC has been a beneficiary of Pink Zone since the very first game in 2007, and donations currently help support toward two specific impact areas. These include funding the organization’s singular vehicle—a bright pink minivan that allows staff members to reach all ends of the state, traveling approximately 20,000 miles per year, as well as providing hundreds of scholarships for survivors and health care professionals to participate in the PBCC annual Conference, a one-day inspirational and educational event held each October. Join them in their mission to “find a cure now…so our daughters won’t have to.”
Penn State Cancer Institute is proud to partner with the Pink Zone! Our support spans from promotion of the Pink Zone game throughout the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center campus, and encouraging game attendance to breast cancer survivors who visit the Penn State Hershey Breast Center. Funds received from Pink Zone go directly to the Lady Lion Basketball Breast Cancer Research Endowment in the Penn State Cancer Institute which supports novel ideas for young researchers and scientists working specifically on breast cancer research. The endowment allows for researchers and scientists to complete the pilot research needed to test their theories in the lab and, if successful, move forward to apply for highly competitive, federal funding often only obtainable after successful pilot research has been completed. Penn State Cancer Institute is grateful for Pink Zone’s continued support of our important work in research and helping us to elevate the quality of treatment and outcomes for our patients.
