Our annual Little Black Dress Goes Pink fundraiser was a huge success thanks to all the attendees, staff and volunteers. On Sunday, October 16th, breast cancer survivors, family and friends of survivors and Pink Zone supporters gathered at Above the Valley Special Event Center for a sold out event. The venue, with its breathtaking view atop Mount Nittany, was the perfect location for our annual fundraiser. Pink linens and bouquets of pink flowers aligned the tables. And, our guests came dressed in pink dresses, skirts, blazers and jewelry. The decor and apparel helped to create the “Pink Out” scene that the planning committee was hoping to see.
The event was catered by Above the Valley and included a light buffet, dessert and drinks. Event attendees had the option to participate in a basket raffle or a silent auction, or both. Basket raffle items were a huge hit, and the items in our silent auction ranged from wine parties to a luxurious Viva Bella Salon basket. Both raffle and auction items were a key contributor to the fundraising efforts of the event
Live entertainment kept the crowd on their toes. A big thanks to our DJ and our guitarist who surely brought the house down. In addition to our DJ, 11 breast cancer survivors and their families took part in a fashion show modeling the latest 2016 trends. We would like to give a special thanks to Appalachian Outdoors, Diamonds & Lace, Harper’s Shop for Men, Jezebel’s Boutique and Lions Pride for providing our models with their attire. We would also like to thank Viva Bella Salon for hair and makeup services. The fashion show was kicked off by an appearance from the Lady Lion Basketball team, Head Coach Coquese Washington and the assistant coaches. The models began upstairs, strutted across the event venue to center stage, struck a pose, and headed back upstairs for their next outfit change. Our ladies looked beautiful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our models. Your radiant beauty was apparent.
The night was capped off with a wig auction. Upon exit, a pink scarf was given to all attendees as a “Thank you” gift from the Pink Zone. This was Pink Zone’s way of expressing our gratitude to our guests for their commitment to the cause. We thank you, and we hope to see you again next year.
