STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Jersey Mike’s Raises More Than $13,000 for Pink Zone! Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, held a Month of Giving in March that included a Day of Giving event where 100% of sales were dedicated to giving back to the local community. The franchise, owned by Matt and Kristie Patterson with General Managers, Anthony Rodriguez & Morgan Donley, have designated Pink Zone as the recipient of those funds for the next five years as part of a financial commitment of $75,000. Pink Zone, a 501 © (3), non-profit organization, that promotes cancer awareness and empowers survivors through year-long efforts to raise funds critical in supporting vital breast cancer organizations, charities and facilities that focus on breast cancer education, research, diagnosis, prevention and awareness has raised more than $2.3 million since 2007.

“It is always an honor to support health-related programs directed at the community,” said Matt Patterson. “We’re excited that the effort grows every single year and once again, we’ve exceeded last year’s gift. Giving back through the Day of Giving is our way of supporting the community in which we work.”

At the end of the business day a grand total of $13,062 in sales were collected to fund the mission of Pink Zone. The monies will be added to the total funds raised by Pink Zone throughout the year and will be distributed to beneficiaries that support the non-profit’s mission.

“Pink Zone is proud to be the recipient of Jersey Mike’s extraordinary efforts to make a difference in our community. Their pledge of $75,000 is the largest pledge received by Pink Zone to date and we are delighted that they are leaders by example.” said N. Susan Woodring, executive director of Pink Zone. “It’s through generosity such as theirs that we can impact the community in such a substantial way. Our goal is to do all that we can to promote breast cancer awareness and empower survivors with support to our beneficiaries.”

Anthony Rodriguez of Jersey Mike’s, said, “It is an honor to partner up with Pink Zone and to show our support of an organization that has, during their existence, tended to the making a difference in the community.”

Started in 1956, Jersey Mike’s now has 1,500 restaurants open and under development nationwide. Matt and Kristie Patterson, currently own seven stores and in the near future will add three more to their ranks.

Last year Pink Zone distributed $255,000 to six beneficiaries: Mount Nittany Health, Penn State Cancer Institute, Kay Yow Foundation, Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital, J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.
