Pink Zone has provided financial support and entered a partnership with Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM) to continue the battle against breast cancer with increased resources and testing.
A $27,500 grant to CVIM will help pursue these goals:
— increase awareness for early detection, as well as awareness of CVIM and Pink Zone;
— increase the number of vouchers provided for mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies and other related testing; and
— increase the number of people utilizing Pink Zone funding as they go through treatments.
“We’re excited to create synergy between our organizations for total patient care from early detection through treatments and for future endeavors,” said Trish Fulvio, Pink Zone’s executive director.
Centre Volunteers in Medicine is celebrating 20 years of service in Centre County in 2023. As the demand for medical, dental and behavioral health needs grows, the organization remains committed to providing services to uninsured and underinsured patients in Centre County.
A recent expansion of CVIM’s clinick will allow the group to serve even more patients, and CVIM’s breast care program is an integral part of its health care services. In addition, CVIM’s voucher program ensures women and men in Centre County receive crucial early-detection testing for breast cancer.
The vouchers offer free mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies and other related testing and are provided to people living or working in Centre County who are uninsured or underinsured (insurance that does not cover these services), and meet financial eligibility guidelines. It’s important to note that a person does not have to be a CVIM patient to receive a breast care voucher. Through the years, CVIM has learned that while some people have insurance for routine mammograms, it often doesn’t cover additional testing.
